Our Story
The CERPUR CP1 was born right across a neighborhood fence in southern Burgenland, Austria, bringing together a direct-marketing arable farmer and an experienced mechanical engineer. Walter Neuper, a grain grower and direct marketer, wanted to freshly clean his weekly batches of food-grade grain right before delivery to his customers. Storing harvested grain in bulk silos made cooling and pest prevention far easier than storing bagged grain—but it meant he needed to clean batches of 100 to 1,000 kg per week across a wide variety of crops: spelt, wheat, rye, oats, emmer, einkorn, brown millet, corn, soybeans, sunflower seeds, and specialty crops. When he looked at the market, no machine existed that could handle small batches across so many crops efficiently.
His neighbor David Rothbauer, a skilled mechanical engineer, designed a specialized grain cleaner tailored specifically to this challenge. His engineering priorities were clear: affordable sieve sets, a compact footprint, tool-free sieve changes in seconds, effortless adjustment between crops, and an accessible price point.
It quickly became clear that there was a real demand for compact grain cleaning machines, turning a custom build into a business idea. In 2017, Walter Neuper and David Rothbauer founded Neuper & Rothbauer Maschinenbau GmbH. At our modern manufacturing facility in Mogersdorf, Austria, every CERPUR machine is built completely in-house from raw sheet metal to final assembly. Today, CERPUR machines operate reliably on farms, seed estates, and processing facilities worldwide, handling everything from on-farm seed dressing and food-grade grain cleaning to industrial granulate sorting and plastics recycling separation.
